What are the goals of the SJTA?

The St. James Tennis Association (SJTA), with over 450 members and growing, is an organization established to benefit all tennis players with a Clubs at St. James Sport or Golf membership.  From beginners playing socially to advanced players seeking a competitive challenge, the SJTA supports players at all levels.
The purpose and focus of the SJTA is to: 
  • Promote tennis, friendly competition, and enjoyment of the game
  • Encourage all levels of play – recreational as well as competitive
  • Give back to the greater community through our fund-raisers (this year: Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas), as well as supporting other charitable activities and our volunteer efforts
  • ​Serve as liaison to Troon and The Clubs at St. James management on improving the tennis and experience, facilities, and future plans
  • Serve as a voice that helps shape the growth and development of tennis in St. James, Brunswick County, and the greater Wilmington area
What we do:
  • Sponsor several tennis tournaments during the year open to SJTA members
  • Provide an opportunity to play in various SJTA sponsored tournaments and monthly round robins
  • Create a fun and social environment for the St. James tennis community.
  • Hold numerous social events including Member Appreciation Day, Beach Outings, Holiday Party, and the Annual Business meeting/dinner
  • Communicate regularly through Weekly Court Reports and keep our membership updated on upcoming activities and events
  • Raise money for SJTA-selected charities
