The Racketeers, a St. James 3.5 men's 55+ tennis team, received a berth at the recent State Championships by finishing first in their division.
The Racketeers, led by captain Joe Meissner, were never sure of first place until the last point was won in the team’s last match, played on their home courts, which earned them the spot in the State Championships.
With a 3-1 record, the Racketeers missed the quarterfinals by the slimmest of margins but hope to make it back next year.

The 3.0 women's team from St. James competed in the USTA State Championship event held May 30 to June 1 in Asheville, NC.  The team, led by Captain Cathy Holstein
and Co-Captain Lisa Daly, won their matches against METRO and PIED.  They lost to both CAP and
FOOT to finish with a match record of 2-2.  The loss to
FOOT featured three third-set tiebreakers.
